Health is a condition of mental, physical and emotional well-being where infirmity and illness are absent. The pursuit of a sound and healthy lifestyle is often associated with a healthy body, mind and spirit and a proper balance between these three aspects is very important for a healthy lifestyle. Many of the diseases and ailments of modern society are the result of unhealthy lifestyles as the bulk of our population clings to fast food and processed foods and engages in hazardous behaviors like smoking, drinking, overeating and stress. The fact that a person is considered physically fit has little to do with his or her level of self-esteem and can impact their health in a negative way.

For an individual to maintain a healthy lifestyle and attain optimal health status, it is important to make lifestyle choices that lead to good health. However, it is difficult to eat only fruits and vegetables. Also, a diet rich in fiber is necessary to ensure that the digestive system functions properly and that the waste products are eliminated in the appropriate ways. Thus, it is important to incorporate occupational health practices and to use prescribed tools for improving occupational safety and health. These measures are aimed at reducing the number of cases of disease caused by disease or disability caused by health problems.

Emotional health can be described as three aspects: psychological stress, anxiety and mood disorders. Psychological stress can be caused by factors such as work, relationship, peer and family problems and it can lead to physiological changes such as fatigue, weight gain, insomnia, depression, dizziness and anxiety. Anxiety and mood disorders can be caused by biological, neurological and environmental factors. However, biological and neurological factors are far from being the only ones because some diseases like heart diseases also lead to changes in the levels of the other psychological factors such as the self-esteem and the ability to make rational decisions.
